Gamer Biography:

Same story that I've read about from so many people on BGG. I've been playing board games all my life, although up until New Year's Eve 2009, all I knew was the old standards (Monopoly, Life, Battleship, etc). All that changed Dec 31/09. We had some friends come over for New Years and they brought a game called Settlers of Catan. I was so intrigued by the "new" gameplay that I started to investigate on the internet about other games like it. Soon I found Boardgamegeek and the rest is history.

I soon bought Carcassonne, Pandemic, Stone Age, Ticket to Ride and now just over a year later, my collection of games is sitting at 34. (I don't count all the old ones like Monopoly, Battleship, Scrabble, etc).

My primary gaming partners are my family (wife, son and daughter). We mostly play the lighter entry-level games like Carc, Pandemic, Stone Age. More recently Dominion, Fresco, Forbidden Island, Dixit and 7 Wonders.

I am definitely a more serious gamer and want to get into the more medium-heavy weighted games, but I know that those won't interest my wife or kids (who are still 10 and under).
