Gamer Biography:
My Gaming experience has been vast and varied. My history includes RPG, CCG, Board games, Miniatures war-games, Computer/MMO and yes even LARP. I guess I will try it all. In the beginning I played your typical adolescent games, Game of life, Monopoly, Trouble, etc.
My step into the more immersive games happened in late elementary when I came across a bunch of teens playing a game in the skating dressing room. I was invited to join them and I got to roll up my first Rogue in the original Dungeons and Dragons. Since that day I have played D&D, AD&D, 3rd Edition, Star Wars D6, Star Wars D20, Marvel, Battletech, Shadowrun, RIFTS, and a few others. The progression of this lead to a few months of LARPing with Vampire: the Masquerade.
After my start with Pen and Paper gaming came my interest in Miniature wargaming. The first of these games I started to play was Warhammer 40K. From there it branched off to Warhammer, Battlefield Gothic, Mordhiem, Bloodbowl, Warmaster, Confrontation, Ragnorok, Hybrid/Nemisis, and most recently Warmachine and Hordes. I am a sucker for a nice looking miniature, if only I had the dedication to sit down and paint more.
While exploring my first months with Warhammer 40K I learnt of a game called Magic which was suppose to be the Ultimate in fun?. So I picked up some packs (Unlimited edition). Well not only was it addictive but it was also a huge money sink : This lasted till around Ice Age block when I sold everything off to continue perusing the ever more expensive miniature wargames.
My first computer was an Atari 130XE. This was back in the day that moving pixels were all you needed for graphics and games were designed around the challenge and fun, and not just eye candy. The first gaming platform we got was the Colecovision, which was followed by Nintendo series right up to the Gamecube, Dreamcast, PS2, Xbox and now the 360. Nowadays I only use my computer for MMOs, web and word applications and do my gaming on the console.
Last but not least, in fact its the reason we are all here, is board games. I am a nut when it comes to these things. If it looks good I have to buy it. When am I going to have time to play them all? Who knows but I have it for when the mood strikes! You will have to check out the games list to see how true this is.
I have been really looking forward to this group getting started and have always been envious when I have heard of other groups getting together for board game nights.
